World's Largest Salad

The residents of Baguio City took pride in having tossed what was believed to be the world's largest salad, a 916.8-kilogram mix of assorted vegetables. On Sept. 16, 2001 in commemoration of the city's 92nd charter anniversary, 52 persons mixed what they claimed to be the largest salad ever tossed. Organizers of the event said they were able to feed 4,861 people-who paid P20 each for a 225-gram cup of salad-over a span of six hours. By the end of the period, leftovers weighed 40 kilograms. The people of Baguio said they were able to break the previous record - a Caesar's salad that fed only 1,000 people in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 14, 2002.
